Learn the story, mission, and vision behind Together in Motion
Our Mission
Together in motion exists to ensure amputees and limb-different individuals in North Dakota never navigate limb loss alone.
We provide peer support, practical resources, emotional connection, family guidance, and community belonging.
Our Vision
North Dakota’s rural geography creates unique barriers for amputees and their families. Many individuals experience isolation, transportation challenges, delayed prosthetic access, emotional trauma, and lack of peer connection after amputation. Newly injured individuals are often discharged home without a local support network or someone who understands the physical and emotional realities of limb loss.
Together in Motion was created to bridge that gap.
Every Contribution Creates Connection
Meet Our Founders
Together in Motion was founded by two women brought together by a shared belief that no one should face limb loss or limb difference alone.
Shelby Denault experienced life-changing limb loss firsthand following her left below-knee amputation in 2023. Through her own recovery journey, she discovered the power of peer support, encouragement, and community in rebuilding confidence and independence.
Lacey Burdick brings years of experience working directly with amputees as a prosthetic technician. She has witnessed the physical, emotional, and practical challenges individuals face throughout their rehabilitation and understands the importance of having ongoing support beyond the clinic.
Together, they founded Together in Motion to bridge the gap between medical care and community connection. Their mission is simple: to create a welcoming, supportive network where amputees, caregivers, and families can find resources, encouragement, friendship, and hope.
Through support groups, peer visitation, educational programs, and community events, they are helping individuals restore motion, rebuild confidence, and move forward—together.
